Starting the Quest and Finding the Campsite
To begin the mission, speak with Adelaide Oakes in the Transfiguration Courtyard at Hogwarts. She expresses grave concerns regarding her uncle's safety after his recent trading venture with dangerous goblins. Follow the quest marker leading northwest from Hogwarts into the North Hogwarts Region to locate Rowland's abandoned camp.
Upon reaching the campsite, clear out the invading Ranrok Loyalists guarding the area. Once the enemies are defeated, use Revelio to inspect the ground and boxes nearby. You will discover Rowland's journal along with a hand-drawn map detailing key landmarks along a nearby river.
Deciphering Rowland's Map to Korrow Ruins
The map provided at the camp does not display a standard quest marker, requiring players to follow visual indicators instead. Trace the river downstream to the southwest, noting key landmarks such as rock formations and a ruined tower along the path. This route leads directly to the goblin hideout situated at Korrow Ruins.
When you arrive at the outpost, prepare for heavy resistance from multiple goblin forces. Defeat the archers and warriors guarding the perimeter before making your way toward the entrance in the back corner of the courtyard. Enter the dungeon interior to continue your search for the trapped merchant.
Exploring the Ruins and Locating the Wand
Inside Korrow Ruins, navigate through the linear corridors and battle through remaining enemy groups. You will eventually find Rowland Oakes imprisoned behind a heavy metal cell door. Speak with him through the bars to learn that he needs his confiscated wand to break free.
To retrieve the wand, backtrack to the main chamber featuring a massive boiler furnace door. Head up the elevated stairs to the furnace and cast a fire spell such as Incendio to power the mechanism. Proceed through the newly opened door, defeat the goblin boss Pergit, and grab Rowland's wand off the table in the back room.
Freeing Rowland and Collecting Rewards
Return to the cell block with the wand and hand it over to Rowland through the door. With his magic restored, he will unlock his cell and express his immense gratitude for your intervention. He promises to return home safely to Adelaide and refrain from risky trading deals in the future.
